Dear potential spa members, I would like to take a minute to introduce myself. My
name is Darryl Hart. I am the owner and operator of Aloha Pool Service. I purchased
an existing pool route in the beginning of 2005, with only minimal pool cleaning
experience and many concerns about protecting my new investment from competition
and leary customers. The previous owners of my route were SPAH members and suggested
I should join SPAH . I had many doubts if this was a good idea or not. I wondered
did I have time with an already full schedule? Were the other members going to try
and take over my accounts? And also what was the benefit for me and my company?
I have now been a SPAH member for over 2 years and definitely know it was the best
decision I have made for myself as a pool route owner.
The one Tuesday evening a month and ten dollar dues has been very little to pay
for the wealth of knowledge and help I have received from the many different SPAH
members. I have called many members on countless occasions who have taken time out
of there day to help me with all sorts of questions and problems I have encountered
as a pool man. I have also referred the many talented members to my customers for
work beyond my expertice such as gas heater problems and retiling of pools. Not
once did any member try to solicite my customer for service, or downplay my pool
cleaning techniques or knowledge.
At the meetings there is often great speakers from manufacturers such as Hayward,
polaris and many others explaining new product technology. Along with all these
benefits there is also the invaluable part of SPAH which is making friends who are
in your field of work, who know and can relate to your everyday situations. The
last and greatest benefit of SPAH is knowing if you are sick or injured someone
you can trust will be taking care of your customers and your livelihood. See you
at the meeting!
